The DOST OneLab and OMNI International, a Perkin Elmer Company invite you to the FREE Webinar on "Understanding the Impact of Bead Beating in Sample Preparation of Food for Microbial Analysis," to be conducted on 25 August 2022, Thursday, 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM Philippine Standard Time.

The Resource Speaker is Mr. Caleb Proctor, Application Scientist at OMNI International.

This two-hour webinar aims to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform DNA extraction from different samples. The webinar will present various techniques and recent technologies available for efficient extraction of nucleic acid from food samples.

Bead beating samples, particularly food samples, may on the surface look very basic, but the complexities of what and how the beads interact with their samples is driven by the goals of downstream processing. In this talk we will discuss various approaches for microbial downstream analysis, starting with the most important step for consistent results, sample preparation. In our sample preparation, different bead media drives the homogenization steps so that target analytes can be quickly and efficiently recovered for both molecular and traditional approaches to microbial testing. Understanding the impact of these choices, will help researchers both on the bench and in the ideation process determine the proper course of action to create the best assays, SOPs, and surveillance programs.
