Announcement: Online Workshop
I am writing on behalf of the Organising Committee* for the online workshop “Making an Impact on Water Quality for Public Health and Safety – Workshop on Building Laboratory Measurement Techniques”. This workshop is planned to take place on 23 & 24 March 2022 from 1:30 to 4:00 UTC via Zoom Webinar platform.
Synopsis of the Workshop
Water quality is a priority for all economies, as reflected in Goal 6 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and is essential in protecting public health against communicable diseases. This virtual workshop brings together experts from national water agencies, metrology institutes from the Asia Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP) and Inter-American Metrology System (SIM), as well as the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) to discuss key metrics of water quality data.
The workshop objectives are to strengthen participants’ understanding of core measurement concepts, including analytical measurement techniques, metrological traceability, conformity and uncertainty of measurement testing and sampling, and to help them appreciate the importance of accuracy-based proficiency testing. Presentations from technical experts in inorganic analysis will help the participants deal with potential challenges in the measurement of trace elements in water, and improve their measurement capabilities ahead of their participation in interlaboratory comparisons and proficiency tests.
The target audience includes staff from metrology institutes, government institutes/laboratories, WHO Collaborating Centres on water quality, accreditation bodies and private testing laboratories. These bodies are being invited to participate in the interlaboratory comparisons or proficiency tests organised under the auspices of multiple fora.
While the programme is being finalised, we seek your support on the online workshop and kindly request your assistance to disseminate news about our online workshop to your network of local national & testing laboratories. Interested individuals may express his/her interest to attend the online workshop through an e-form which can be accessed by clicking HERE or by scanning the QR code below. To help us with the workshop planning, the e-form will close after 2 March 2022 for consolidation of information.
We look forward to your participation and support in sharing the information.
